Conference and Events expert joins Orbit Travel Auckland team
Monday 27 August – The conference and events segment of Orbit Corporate Travel is taking on renewed focus and vigour, as demonstrated with the most recent addition to their team - Andrea Russell.
Andrea has had over 15 years’ experience in escorting a variety of sporting supporter tours around Asia and Australasia, and managing events during her previous roles at Ansett New Zealand, United Airlines and Stars Sports Tours & Events. These have included groups and events for the Rugby World Cup, Netball World Championships, Bathurst 1000, Australian Tennis Open and Rugby 7’s tournaments. Prior to her appointment with Orbit Corporate Travel, Andrea managed the combined operations of Stars Sports Tours & Events and CWT Meetings and Events for Carlson Wagonlit where she was responsible for blue chip clients such as Fonterra, ANZ, Vodafone and BP.
“It has been an exhaustive search and we are thrilled to have Andrea,” says Brendan Drury, CEO, Orbit Corporate Travel, Auckland. “Finding the right Conference and Events person to fit with the culture of the business, and at the same time having the appropriate organisation and negotiation skills has been a real challenge. Running Conferences and Events means that you need to be an operational expert, marketer, accountant and business analyst all in one! And with Andrea we have the right person for the job.”
For Andrea, travel continues to remain a core passion. “Each day in the office is an adventure and an opportunity to provide a memorable experience for our clients,” she says. “My true passion is Groups and Events, and enabling corporate companies to reward and incentivize their staff, and recognise their commitment. The aim is to always deliver an exceptional program that has clients talking about it for months afterwards. This is the 'buzz' that keeps me focussed, and willing to go above and beyond for our clients. There is no more exciting, dynamic and creative industry than the corporate travel and events industry!”
Andrea begins her new role as Groups and Events Manager on Monday 27 August.
