SKYCITY welcomes new chefs to Sky Tower restaurants

Two of Auckland’s restaurants with the best views over New Zealand’s largest city, Orbit Revolving Restaurant and the Observatory Restaurant are pleased to welcome new Head Chefs to their teams.

Orbit Revolving Restaurant welcomes Chef Jean-Christophe Varnier. Chef Varnier has worked around the world including Australia, England, France, Tahiti and New Zealand where more recently he was Head Chef and Owner of St Tropez in Parnell, Auckland from 1999 until his move to Orbit this year. With over 20 years experience in the food industry Jean-Christophe brings a new flavour and style to Orbit with the launch of a new dinner and lunch menu.

“Besides the great 360 degree view of Auckland, I’m really looking forward to working with some really talented chefs” says Chef Varnier.

Chef Varnier will also be a guest chef at the Auckland Home Show on Thursday 6 September in the Smeg Cooking Theatre in Hall 4 at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane.

Sky Tower’s brasserie-style buffet restaurant specialising in stunning seafood, Observatory Restaurant, is pleased to welcome Chef Loreto Bembo. Chef Bembo has nearly 30 years experience having worked around the world including the United States of America where he has worked for Princess Cruises onboard their cruise ships, Australia and New Zealand. Previous to his move to Observatory, Chef Bembo worked as Executive Chef at the Distinction Hotel, Rotorua and is excited about making the move to Observatory.

“I am so delighted to join one of the biggest hospitality employers in the country. I’ve been engaged in the hospitality business for many years and it’s a merit for me to have the opportunity to join the culinary work force at SKYCITY” say Chef Bembo.
