Two-fold success is what’s on the Agenda
Hamilton’s South Victoria Street establishment Agenda Restaurant and Nightclub is proving businesses can multitask by gaining excellence recognition from both national and regional hospitality associations.
Acting as a restaurant by day and a nightclub after dark, the smart spatial design and the adaptive staff of Agenda have demonstrated just how possible it is to cater to two very different audiences.
Recent annual Hamilton Central Business Awards named Agenda runner up in Hospitality Excellence for displaying outstanding proficiencies during restaurant service.
Judging categories included service manner, knowledge and experience of staff, as well as presentation and atmosphere.
Furthermore, as one of Hamilton’s most popular nightclubs for under 30s, Agenda has been announced a national finalist for Best Music Entertainment Venue by Hospitality New Zealand’s Awards for Excellence 2012.
Co-owner Heidi Jordan says: “We are so proud of our team. We have worked so hard to operate what can be a difficult business plan, running two successful businesses at the same time under the one roof. Our management team do well to wear two hats – it’s a challenge and we are so proud to be succeeding.”
Sibling owners Logan Hughes and Heidi Jordan of Katikati founded Agenda three years ago after discovering a passion for the hospitality industry while abroad.
“I had been a bar manager in the UK while travelling, when I came home I missed the industry,” Says Logan. “We got talking about starting up a business ourselves, an opportunity came up and here we are. After three years it’s great to see our team getting recognised for their efforts”
The next month will see a new dinner menu released for the restaurant with refined classic dishes and new seasonal inclusions.
In addition to this, after seeing international act Ctrl Alt Del attract crowds last Thursday night, the Agenda nightclub crew are excited to be hosting Justin Sane (AKL) and Jaycen Amour (AKL) later this month.
Winners of the Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence will be made at the Lion Awards for Excellence Dinner in Wellington, on Wednesday 26 September.
