Orange Label 2011 Gimblett Gravels Merlot Cabernet

Media Release

Sacred Hill introduces Orange Label 2011 Gimblett Gravels Merlot Cabernet

Sacred Hill has released its 2011 Sacred Hill Orange Label Gimblett Gravels Merlot Cabernet to the market, offering wine lovers a quality, full bodied wine with depth and structure.

This rich and vibrant red bears all the hallmarks of Sacred Hill’s attention to detail in winemaking, with aromas of plums, vanilla and red rose, laced with liquorice and spice. A vibrant palate, it features layers of red berry fruits, spice and chocolate.

Chief winemaker Tony Bish said that despite challenging wine conditions in Hawke’s Bay during the 2011 growing season, the free draining, warm gravel soils at Sacred Hill’s Gimblett Gravel vineyards ensured robust, healthy fruit produced stand-out wines such as this.

“This is a serious, but approachable wine with noticeable definition and tremendous length on the finish. It is typical of our 2011 wines which show a vibrancy of flavor and refreshing structure.”

Matured in French oak barrels for 12 months, the wine has fine tannins for depth and definition, and is ready to drink now, although careful cellaring will ensure it can be enjoyed in the years to come.

It is ideally enjoyed at ambient temperature and stunning with aged cheddar or roasted meats.

The 2011 Sacred Hill Merlot Cabernet is available at wine outlets nationwide or directly from the winery’s website at www.sacredhill.com with an RRP of $22.99.
