Mercator Delivers New Safety Management System to Emirates
In only 15 short months, aviation IT specialist Mercator has delivered on a promise to its customers and the aviation
safety industry to develop a cutting-edge safety and compliance management system to enable the aviation industry to
manage safety information and compliance in an integrated and efficient manner.
The new safety and compliance management system is now live and running with its launch customer, award-winning airline
Emirates.
Employees have been provided with a set of guidelines towards ensuring that standards of safety are continually improved
across the Emirates Group. This also ensures the welfare and safety of the Group’s customers, colleagues and equipment;
and improves operational performance.
“There is nothing in market today that addresses the need for integration between the various internal components that
drive Safety in an organisation.” said Captain Henry Donohue, Senior Vice-President Emirates Group Safety. “Our new
product manages the reactive, proactive and predictive aspects of safety; ensuring that every hazard is managed and
every risk contained.
“The level of integration and intelligence that we have been able to feed into the product from our years of experience,
plus the valuable know-how of our people, makes this the most purpose-built product for aviation safety,” he added.
Developed in cooperation with a dedicated project team at Emirates, the system is now being used by the over 50,000
strong team across the Emirates Group to report safety information. Delivered on time, the safety management solution
allows Emirates to demonstrate compliance to the ICAO SMS guidelines.. Following a pilot period, the product will be
made available to the rest of Mercator’s customers and the wider aviation industry in the coming months.
