Strong Interest in Chamber Board Elections
Tauranga Chamber of Commerce today announced the names of the nominees for the upcoming board election.
Outgoing President Warwick de Vere said, “It is pleasing to see the number of people contesting for seats on the board. For me it reflects several positive aspects.
Firstly that the Chamber is perceived as an organisation that represents local firms and is an opinion former.
Secondly that so many members have shown a real attitude of participation and are prepared to contribute their time voluntarily to support Tauranga’s growth.
Lastly, because several of the nominees are from larger influential corporates it shows their preparedness to support the growth of the substantial SME sector in Tauranga.
The 13 board members serve for a term of one year. Voting opens on Tuesday 21 August, and closes at 12pm, Wednesday 12 September. The President, two Vice Presidents and Treasurer positions were uncontested, which means that 15 nominees will stand for nine remaining board positions.
After three years as president Warwick De Vere is standing down and Paul Bowker will replace him.
