Aon cements itself in Christchurch

Aon New Zealand has become one of the first companies to open doors on a new office space in Christchurch since the February 2011 earthquake.

The newly built Aon House, officially opened by Prime Minister John Key, has been constructed to the new seismic code which requires a substantial increase in a buildings ability to withstand earthquakes.

Since the February 2011 quake, over 50 Aon staff have maintained operations from a temporary office space after their office in the BNZ Building in Cathedral Square was rendered uninhabitable and was condemned.

Geoff Blampied, CEO of Aon New Zealand, says the opening of the new building cements their commitment to the Canterbury region and is a positive step forward for everyone involved.

“This is more than an office space, it shows our people and all those who have helped us get here that we are in this for the long haul and gives us the security and resources to get on with our work, which is helping others rebuild.”

The entire second floor of the new 2000sqm facility is available for new tenants, which will provide other companies the space to also get back to business in Christchurch and start rebuilding the local economy.

The building constructed by Calder Stewart Development comprises reinforced concrete and steel, materials Calder Stewart are renowned for working with. The space, which has received a Grade A for office standards, utilises sustainable technology and energy efficient design cues.

The primary function of Aon as insurance brokers is to arrange insurance policies on behalf of our clients and in respect of claims we act as their advocate in negotiations with their respective insurance provider.
