Vector’s OnGas Bottle Swap program is going from strength to strength, reporting good sales across all sites for the
winter period. Our featured site this week is BP Connect Lunn Avenue, Mount Wellington. BP’s recently opened flagship
site is already featuring in the top 10% of sales volume across OnGas’ Bottle Swap Outlets nationwide. Category Manager,
Wendy Jordan, is extremely pleased with this result. “Given we have a large amount of retail competition local to the
area, it goes to show that BP’s consumer offer continues to sit favourably with our customers,” she said. Vector’s 9 kg

NETWORKS SUMMARY for Week Commencing 6 August July 2012
ELECTRICITY
• Winter returned with a vengeance when temperatures plummeted mid week. Wednesday night was the highest
instantaneous peak so far this winter, 1711 MW. The mean temperature on Wednesday was 11.5 degrees - a couple of degrees
lower than Monday or Tuesday. Despite rain earlier in the week, car v pole incidents were kept to a minimum, with a
truck hitting a pole n Hatfield’s beach, a car v pole at Clover Park in Manukau and another in Takanini. We also had an
underground cable fault cause a short power outage for 168 Glen Eden customers early in the week. The weekend’s storm
caused trees to strike lines on Little Huia Road take out a number of customers for a short while, but otherwise the
network stood up well to the wild weather. Faults crews attended two fires, one in St Heliers and another at the super
yacht builder’s shed in Mt Wellington.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
• It was a week for third party strikes on our gas distribution network. Diggers were responsible for hits in New
Lynn, Botany Downs and Weymouth, while there was also a third party strike in Hamilton. Let’s not forget the DIY’ers; a
person put a spade through a gas line in Te Kuiti on Friday. Faults crews made both sites safe and repaired the pipes.

PROJECTS UPDATE
• Each year Auckland Council chooses an suburb to put artwork on some of Vector’s transformers. These areas are
chosen either because they are in areas that are frequently vandalized or, because local communities want to “Adopt a
Spot”. The process involves submitting a design to Vector and once approved, the artist gets the go ahead to complete
the painting. Vector’s crews check the equipment is in good condition and has a good surface to produce the artwork on.
The next project is expected to be at St Dominic’s School, West Auckland. Vector is currently waiting for designs for
two transformers that the school wishes to adopt.
