Radio Spectrum Five Year Outlook released
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has today released its proposed five-year work programme for radio
spectrum management, for comment.
“The radio spectrum is a key enabler for access to the digital world and the latest communications technologies,” Radio
Spectrum Policy and Planning Manager Len Starling said, “so it’s an important part of the economy.”
“We’re publishing the Radio Spectrum Five Year Outlook to get the views of industry experts and commentators on likely
future trends in the sector and on the Ministry’s proposed work programme,” he said.
The Radio Spectrum Five Year Outlook includes a proposal to review the Radiocommunications Act 1989, which last had a
major review around 15 years ago.
The intention is that the final document will represent a shared understanding of the Ministry’s priorities and work
programme. Interested stakeholders will have six weeks, until 20 September 2012, to submit their feedback to:
radiospectrum@med.govt.nz.
