Electronic Card Transactions: July 2012 key facts

Changes in the seasonally adjusted value of transactions (compared with June 2012) were as follows:
• Total electronic card transactions fell 0.8 percent.
• Transactions in the retail industries fell 0.6 percent.
• Transactions in the core retail industries fell 1.5 percent.
• Fuel rose the most, up 0.4 percent ($3 million).
• Hospitality fell the most, down 3.4 percent ($21 million), after rising strongly the month before.

The actual (unadjusted) value of transactions in the core retail series was up 0.1 percent from July 2011.
