Cloud security driving growth for Trend Micro New Zealand
New team and new direction gathers momentum
Auckland, 7 August 2012 - Trend Micro, the global leader in cloud security, has expanded its operations in New Zealand by growing its team and strengthening its focus on the emerging cloud security market.
Trend Micro NZ has recently appointed a Wellington-based Government account manager, joining the existing team of experienced sales and security employees.
The team is led by industry veteran Matt Brigham, Director of Government, Enterprise, and Service Providers, Trend Micro ANZ.
In addition, Trend Micro will hold its EVOLVE.Cloud security conference in Auckland on 14 August, and a Wellington event on 18 October, these being part of a highly successful seven-city conference series across Australia and New Zealand. The conference brings together industry experts, government speakers, and global authorities to discuss the major issues in cloud and virtualisation security.
Sanjay Mehta, who assumed the role of Managing Director of Trend Micro ANZ on 1 July, attributed the growth of the team to the rapidly increasing business opportunity in New Zealand fuelled by virtualisation and cloud computing.
“As the global leader in cloud security (1), Trend Micro is focused on helping people and organisations to secure their data, whether on physical or virtual desktops and servers or in the cloud,” said Mr Mehta.
“New Zealand was a world leader in adopting virtualisation and is now embracing the cloud. We are helping our customers in finance, banking, and other sectors realise the benefits of secure cloud computing,” said Mr Mehta.
“Organisations are no longer asking if but when they should embrace cloud computing. Driven by the convergence of mobility, social media and the consumerisation of IT, the focus has recently centred on how this fusion can be harnessed and securely managed for maximum business value,” said Mr Brigham.
“Education around this topic is in demand in the New Zealand market. That is why we are hosting the EVOLVE.Cloud security conference in August to bring industry leaders, analysts, partners and government to share the stage and discuss the key issues around how to realise cloud computing while managing risk,” said Mr Brigham.
Adam Biviano, Technical Marketing and Alliances Manager, Trend Micro ANZ, added: “The other major security issues for organisations revolve around Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and data privacy. It’s a little known fact that a significant number of New Zealand firms have either experienced or are currently undergoing major security threats or exploitations.”
EVOLVE.Cloud Conference
The Trend Micro EVOLVE.Cloud conference will be held in New Zealand at Auckland’s Hilton Hotel on 14 August, and Wellington’s Intercontinental Hotel on 18 October These events brings together thought leaders from analyst Frost & Sullivan, VMware, the Cloud Security Alliance, Government leaders, and independent cloud analyst Rob Livingstone, as well as major ecosystem players such as VMware, IBM, Datacom, and Amazon Web Services. Harish Agastya, a world expert on data centres and cloud from Trend Micro, will also present.
