Postie Partners “Give It Up for Hospice”
6 August 2012
“Give It Up for Hospice” is excited to announce its association with the retail clothing chain Postie.
The second annual “Give It Up for Hospice” campaign runs 13 to 31 August and encourages people to donate pre-loved
spring and summer clothing for their local Hospice Shop. This year the campaign will be boosted by the 82 Postie stores
around the country which will collect clothing donations for “Give It Up”. Postie will also give a 20 percent discount
voucher eligible on any of their new season items to customers who donate clothing, via Postie stores. The discount
vouchers will be available from August 13 to 31, 2012.
This has the dual benefit of encouraging people to think about clearing out their wardrobes to make room for the new
season fashions, while feeling good about the fact their old clothes are going to be put to good use, in support of a
worthy cause.
As part of their commitment, Postie will include “Give it Up for Hospice” in their promotional activity, including
online, in mailers to their database of 1.4 million households, in television commercials and on till receipts.
Dyan Cann, Manager of Give It Up for Hospice says,“We are well aware of how tough things are economically for businesses
so to have Postie come on board and be so generous is an incredible feeling. Postie’s reach into the community both
urban and rural is significant and they are so generously helping us to communicate with their customers not only about
the Give It Up campaign but Hospice itself. . It’s destined to be a great association.”
With 82 stores nationwide, there is a Postie store pretty much everywhere there is a Hospice Shop. This means “Give It
Up for Hospice” will reach more people than ever; both organisations’ customers will be able to capitalise on the
fashion deals offered and Postie will ultimately be helping to provide essential support for people who are living with
a terminal illness, and their families. “It’s a win-win-win,” says Cann.
Jane Gammon, General Manager from Postie says when approached they didn’t hesitate to get involved.
“We believe that Hospice and their volunteers provide an invaluable service to families in their time of need. Our
Postie staff are keen to get behind the campaign, and really hope that by offering our stores as a collection point, we
can assist to generate much needed funding, so they can continue their great work.”

About Hospice Shops: Hospice Shops are retail outlets that financially support the work of their local hospice through the sale of clothing
and bric-a-brac donated from within the community. All Hospice Shops are staffed by volunteers.
About Hospice: Hospice offers free palliative care and support to anyone in our community living with a terminal illness. The hospice
aim is to optimize the quality of life for their patients and their families. While the service is partially funded by
the government, millions of dollars needs to be raised each year to cover the funding shortfall and Hospice shops
contribute up to 50 per cent of this each year.
