Timaru Mitre 10 MEGA Wins National Retail Chain Award

Timaru Mitre 10 MEGA has won the Mitre 10 MEGA Store of the Year award at Mitre 10 New Zealand’s annual awards dinner held on July 29.

The Timaru store was chosen by the judges for its excellent service to Timaru and the region, out-performing other Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 MEGA stores throughout New Zealand.

“The team at Timaru deserve to feel really proud of what they’ve achieved,” said Mitre 10 CEO John Hartmann. “They’ve done a fantastic job of building up trust and confidence with customers, suppliers and the community, and going the extra mile to maintain it over time.”

Mr Hartmann said the awards were judged on customer and supplier feedback, store presentation and look, staff performance, community relationships and financial performance.

“These awards are an acknowledgement of the work that our 5,000 staff put in every year and a key measure of our ongoing focus on getting things right in our stores for our customers,” said Mr Hartmann.

Store Manager David Ferguson said the award was a credit to the hard work put in by all members of the Timaru team.

“We put a huge amount of time and effort into making sure we meet – and exceed – the high expectations that all people have when they walk into our store,” said Mr Ferguson. “So it’s really pleasing to get this result.”

Mitre 10 New Zealand’s national network of Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 MEGA stores has the co-operative group closing on the $1 billion turnover milestone and its national retail footprint is more than twice as large as its nearest competitor.

More than 550 Mitre 10 owners, managers, suppliers and staff attended the awards dinner held in Melbourne.
