Delivering The Perfect Gift, A Recipe For Success For Growing Company
Creating exquisite gift boxes with a focus on ‘fun and quirky’ is key for a new online gift store going from strength to strength in its first year of operation.
The Queenstown-based Korora Trading Company has just added 15 new gift boxes to its collection of quality, contemporary gift ideas, having cracked the recipe for success when it comes to delivering the ultimate gift
Director Alison Broadhead said the company’s on-going quest for “fun and fabulous” products delivered in “a little box of decadence” meant its business had seen substantial growth since opening nine months ago.
“It’s all about quality, and originality, it just comes down to using the best products we can possibly find,” said Alison.
“I think everyone knows someone who deserves a little bit of decadence for whatever reason and we simply make that whole gift giving process easy.”
Alison and husband Mike have lined the walls of their Queenstown warehouse facility with quality products painstakingly sourced from New Zealand and throughout the world.
The focus is on products that are award-winning, elegant or fun – or all three -- that give each box a feeling of decadence, and most importantly always contain something to keep.
“That’s a philosophy we’ve had from day one, and has been a major part of our success, because we think this gives the gift extra longevity and extra meaning,” said Alison.
With sixty very different gift boxes now on offer, Korora Trading Company boasts a range that they believe provides a solution for even the most ‘difficult’ of recipients, including the person who has everything.
The ‘Dog Box’ is just one of those, designed as a little bit of fun and something quite quirky. It includes a dog blanket, tin for dog treats, and a box of New Yorker dog notecards, all packaged and wrapped in a trademark Korora quality gift box.
“It’s really important to us that we stay fresh. We are continually sourcing unusual products and creating gorgeous gift boxes,” said Alison.
“Sending someone a text message for their birthday is fine, but if you really want to make someone’s day you can easily give them a real boost by sending a gift, easily and effortlessly.
“Gift buying shouldn’t be hard, or a drag and it shouldn’t be something that ends in disappointment.”
Alison said the aesthetic of the Korora gift box was an important aspect of the business.
“A beautiful box of decadence arriving on your doorstep is a lovely way to say I’m thinking of you, I miss you or I love you.”
Business has gathered momentum as Korora has added corporate, conference and bespoke gifts to its range.
“We have the systems in place to fulfil large-scale corporate orders and we’re also creating a range specific to the conference and incentive market, where we focus on beautifully-presented New Zealand inspired gift boxes.”
Other recent additions to the company’s range include its Oriental Box, Lemon & Lime Box, Beer Box and Road Trip Box.
The Road Trip gift box includes two reusable CuppaCoffeeCups, a tin of award-winning Avalanche coffee, travel mints and a selection of gourmet chocolate, cookies and nuts.
“I think it’s the little bit of fun that is included in each of the boxes that makes them so appreciated. We know we’ve got it right when customers say they can’t believe it hasn’t been done before. Repeat custom is our best compliment,” said Alison.
With Father’s Day fast approaching, Alison said Korora was expecting to be busy with orders for those looking for something cool and contemporary for Dad.
“Something like our Garden Shed box or Mint box will be real hits this year.”
