Auckland-Amsterdam Now by A380 All the Way
New Zealand travellers can now fly all the way direct from Auckland to Amsterdam by superjumbo with the extension of Emirates’ A380 route network to the Netherlands overnight.
Emirates is the first carrier in the world to offer a scheduled A380 service to the Netherlands, just two years since its first flight to Amsterdam.
The double decker now operates flight EK 147 departing Dubai to Amsterdam daily at 8.25am, providing direct connections to Emirates’ daily A380 and its other services from New Zealand, and has become its 19th A380 destination among a host of major cities around the world.
Aside from Amsterdam, Emirates also offers A380 service direct from Auckland to five other Europe airports among its 31 Europe destinations – London-Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, Paris and Rome - plus Moscow from December. The A380 currently flies from Auckland to Sydney en route to Dubai and, from October, will also operate from Auckland via Melbourne.
Emirates is the largest A380 operator in the world and has now carried more than 10 million passengers and has flown more than 150 million kilometres since the double decker was introduced to its fleet in August 2008. The airline’s A380 operations are supported by more than 3,000 dedicated cabin crew, and Emirates’ state-of-the-art facilities at Dubai International Airport will be augmented by the opening of the world’s first dedicated A380 terminal early next year.
The carrier’s 22 A380s now serve Amsterdam, Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, New York JFK, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney, Toronto, Tokyo, with Melbourne set to be added on October 2 and Moscow on December 1.
Each Emirates’ A380 offers an onboard
lounge on the upper deck for premium class passengers to
meet, relax and do business. First Class passengers have the
added luxury of two onboard shower spas.
.
Passengers
across all cabins on the A380 can lose themselves in the
more than 1,400 channels of ice, Emirates’ award-winning
digital widescreen inflight entertainment system. They can
also stay connected to the internet throughout their journey
with high speed wi-fi access.
Passengers travelling with
Emirates on the A380 and all its other three daily services
from New Zealand benefit from a generous baggage allowance
of 30kg in economy class, 40kg in business and 50 kg in
first.
EK 147 leaves Dubai at 8.25am and arrives in
Amsterdam Schiphol at 130pm local time. The return double
decker service, EK148, departs Amsterdam at 3.30pm and lands
in Dubai at midnight local time.
Emirates has a fleet of
178 aircraft flying to more than 120 destinations in 74
countries and has on order a further 225 aircraft worth over
US $62 billion. Over the course of the next few months,
Emirates will launch a further five destinations – Erbil
(Iraq), Washington, D.C, Lyon, Adelaide and Warsaw.
