New Owners for Harbourside Restaurant

24th July 2012

New Owners for Harbourside Restaurant

The owners of Botswana Butchery Auckland have bought iconic Auckland restaurant Harbourside, through Safari Hospitality Ltd, Good Group Ltd’s sister company. The combined group have a hospitality portfolio consisting of 16 businesses in Queenstown, Wanaka, Christchurch and Auckland.

The popular Auckland eatery, located upstairs in the historic Ferry Building, will change hands on the 1st October 2012, with business as usual in the interim.

A director of the group, Russell Gray, said that the purchase of Harbourside was a very exciting venture.

“We couldn’t be more delighted to purchase such a highly regarded restaurant in an outstanding location - and in such close proximity to our other Auckland restaurant Botswana Butchery, “ Mr Gray said.

Building on the success of the recently opened Botswana Butchery, Mr Gray said, “the move enables us to leverage our presence in Auckland, arguably New Zealand’s most competitive hospitality environment, as we grow the footprint of our business. Having two strong businesses in the Ferry Building is very exciting, with Botswana Butchery on the ground floor and Harbourside directly above.“

Whilst the iconic Harbourside brand will be retained, a major refurbishment was planned for June - July 2013. Mr Gray said the restaurant would continue to offer the premium dining experience for which Harbourside is famed, being renowned for its seafood and amazing outdoor dining deck with unparalleled harbour views.

Mr Gray was also delighted to announce that current Harbourside restaurant owner Tony Adcock has agreed to stay on to run the operation for the next 12 months as General Manager, ensuring the high standards of service and food would continue over the handover period.
