House of Travel calls for public to
choose “How Kiwis See the World”
16 July 2012 – House of
Travel has lauded the first phase of its “How Kiwi’s See
the World” photo competition a success, with over 7000
photo entries captured in ten days. The New Zealand owned
and operated travel chain joined forces with Qantas, Canon
and media partner TVNZ Breakfast to capture the best photos
of New Zealanders holidaying around the world.
The second stage of the competition has now begun with House of Travel calling on kiwis to vote for their favourite photo from a shortlist of twenty finalists across four categories. The four photo categories include “Best Friends or Family Photo”, “Best Intrepid Photo”, “Best Scenic Photo”, and “Best Use of Colour in a Photo”. A grand prize winner will also be selected by an appointed judging panel.
The public can vote via the House of Travel Photo Competition Facebook App, with voters also entering the chance to win a daily prize draw of a $500 House of Travel Voucher.
The category winners are those photos with the most votes in each category. Photo winners will receive a generous travel and photography prize provided by promotional partners Qantas and Canon, which includes $5000 of air travel on Qantas and a Canon Powershot SX40 HS Digital Still Camera. Voting begins on Monday 16th July and ends on Wednesday 25th July.
“We have been astounded by the number of entries that we received during the call for photos,” says John Moffatt, House of Travel Sales and Marketing Director. “Not only have the photos been fantastic, but often the stories that are attached to the images have been truly inspiring. It just reiterates how kiwis love to spread their wings and see the world through a uniquely New Zealand lens.”
