Funding meeting for Whangarei community groups

Funding meeting for Whangarei community groups

ASB Community Trust is holding a meeting for community organisations in Whangarei on Friday, 24 August to explain its new funding priorities for the next five years.

The 1-2pm meeting, at Kensington Park’s ASB Lounge, will include a presentation on the Trust’s new strategic plan and an explanation of the Trust’s new funding approach.

“We are becoming a more strategic grantmaker,” says Trust CEO Jennifer Gill, “and we are passionate about ensuring that our funds have the maximum impact for the communities of Auckland and Northland.”

Ms Gill says the Whangarei meeting will outline the Trust’s new funding approach, which will make things clearer and simpler for community organisations applying for grants.

“We are aiming to create significant positive change through supporting innovative projects and we will continue to focus on outcomes rather than outputs,” she says. “Our key goals include increasing collaboration and innovation, while encouraging participation and ensuring grants reach people in communities with demonstrable levels of need.”

The Whangarei presentation comes on top of the two annual public meetings the Trust is holding in 2012. On Monday, 13 August, the Trust will hold its Auckland public meeting at the Mangere Arts Centre from 2-3pm. On Saturday, 1 September it will hold its Northland public meeting in Kaitaia’s Te Ahu Centre, from 1-2pm.

The Whangarei meeting will allow those in the mid-North to more easily attend a meeting and find out about funding. Funding information will be available and the latest funding information will also be on the Trust’s website by mid-August: www.ASBCommunityTrust.org.nz
