PGG Wrightson Beefs Up Its Rewards Card Offering
PGG Wrightson, New Zealand’s largest national rural services firm, is getting serious about its loyalty card scheme, ramping up its rewards programme and switching to the globally accepted Visa card as part of its new product offering.
Until now the company, which was partnered with American Express, has been relatively low key in its approach, backing its client relationships with the largest network of stores in the country and the leading technical service offering.
Shannon Galloway, General Manager Marketing at PGG Wrightson, says the initial response to the roll out had been positive. “We’ve had a big influx of customers switch across to the new card and we’ve received some really positive feedback.”
Ms Galloway says the aim wasn’t simply to rush another card into the market. “We didn’t want to come up with another vanilla card. We needed to differentiate ours on the basis of rewards and acceptability. We think we’ve found the right partner in Visa, which is not only accepted at millions of outlets worldwide but has an almost universal appeal in our core communities.
“Our clients also want to be able to manage all their business expenditure via one integrated account and statement. The new card is linked to a nominated PGG Wrightson account so any transactions will appear on the customer’s monthly account statement, earning Rewards points not only on qualifying purchases through the PGG Wrightson network but also every time the card is used anywhere.”
Clients can also take advantage of discounts at participating nationwide retailers – early partners include Telecom, Vodafone, Mercury Energy, Liquor King, Honda, Office Max, Steel and Tube, Ideal Electrical, Ezibuy and Versatile – and the list of partners is expanding.
