Cuisine editor wins supreme award
Fairfax Magazines raises a glass to Cuisine editor Sarah Nicholson who won Supreme Editor of the Year at last night’s annual magazine awards.
The Magazine Awards 2012 were held on Thursday 28 June at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland, attended by over 300 guests from the publishing and media industry in New Zealand and Australia.
“We are delighted by the acknowledgement of Sarah’s success with Cuisine. Since her appointment as editor in 2010 we have seen the title go from strength to strength,” says Fairfax Magazines general manager Lynley Belton.
Said the judges, “The editor presents a very polished product and her professionalism stands out. Nicholson knows her market, her readers and her job. The magazine clearly reflects these strengths. In Cuisine, Nicholson presents the complete package.”
Although Cuisine is already well recognised for its high-profile Cuisine NZ Restaurant of the Year and its Artisan Awards, Nicholson has also implemented an effective social media strategy and its super-successful Masterclass Series to continually engage and delight readers.
Cuisine also picked up several other awards last night, notably Magazine of the Year and Best Cover in the home, food and garden category.
“It [Cuisine] finds the right balance between accessible and glamorous; evidence of clear editorial direction on every page” said the judges.
Adds Belton, “Sarah has demonstrated her ability to connect with readers through her content and design. She came to us with impressive food publishing credentials and we are so proud she has been recognised for her leadership of such an iconic title.”
