PwC New Zealand welcomes its new Chairman
From Monday, PwC will have a new Chairman at its helm to take over from retiring Chairman John Shewan.
Partner Jonathan Freeman has been elected the new Chairman of PwC New Zealand by the firm’s Partnership team.
Chief Executive Officer Bruce Hassall says, “The role of the Chairman is a key leadership position with respect to our firm’s governance and corporate responsibility; from effective performance of the Board and to protecting and enhancing our culture and reputation in the market.
“Jonathan’s passion and drive will provide a strong foundation to lead the Board of PwC in carrying out its collective responsibilities on behalf of our Partners and our firm.”
Mr Freeman joined PwC in 2007 as a Senior Assurance Partner specialising in working with businesses in New Zealand and Australia across sectors such as energy, retail and healthcare, and has led the firm’s People and Culture team for the past two years.
“At its heart, the role of Chairman is a people role and our firm is a people business,” says Mr Freeman.
“It’s the talent and commitment of our people that make us the number one professional services firm in the market, the relationships we have with our clients that allow us to be successful, and the communities around us that make it possible.
“It's one of my aspirations to see the firm takes a long-term view and continues to act in the best interests of all our stakeholders as this is the only way we will grow our business sustainably, be successful and make a difference,” he adds.
“I am immensely proud of PwC and have high expectations of the firm and what we can achieve for New Zealand,” says Mr Freeman.
Mr Hassall
adds, “I’m looking forward to working with Jonathan in
his new role, and believe his appointment marks an exciting
new chapter for our firm.”
