Novotel Queenstown Lakeside brings Kiwi-style après ski lakeside
Après ski ‘the Kiwi way’ will bring mountain fun to town thanks to Queenstown’s largest and most family-friendly winter resort hotel.
Celebrating the arrival of snow and as Queenstown gears up for action-packed school holidays, Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is offering food, drink, entertainment and giveaways making it the best spot to be for après-ski.
Novotel Queenstown Lakeside General Manager Jim Moore said the hotel decided to come to the party after realising that there were not many options for on–mountain après ski.
“That’s when we decided to bring mountain fun into the hotel.”
Running every evening in July in Elements Bar and Cafe between 5pm and 7pm, the hotel is offering everything from Horizontal Bungy to spot prizes to keep everyone from littlies to adults happy.
“We’re looking forward to having a lot of fun each night, but Thursday nights will really be the most exciting,” said Mr Moore.
Each Thursday night the hotel will host selected Queenstown activity providers offering special deals for Novotel’s après ski guests. One lucky guest on Thursdays will win a giveaway from the activity provider of the week in a grand prize draw.
Thursday night will also be ‘Keep your feet on the ground’ bungy nights, with Horizontal Bungy set up in the bar for participants to test their strength against that of the bungy cord.
For under-5s the hotel is providing supervised care from Around the Clock carers in the Family Room with activities to keep the youngsters happy.
For kids, movies will play in the meeting room and there will be popcorn and drinks on offer. “When the kids are happy, the parents are happy, and this way parents can relax and enjoy their winter holiday,” said Mr Moore.
Entertainment for all is on the menu every night of the week - tired but happy skiers can take advantage of food and drink specials on offer at Elements Bar and Café. With a prime position overlooking the hotel’s gardens and lake views, après ski drinks specials include house wine, beer and spirits, a New Zealand-inspired Tapas menu, and it wouldn’t be après ski without the hotel’s own special recipe mulled wine.
For the young, or young at heart, there will be Xbox Kinect set up in the bar lounge, and non-stop snow movies will get guests motivated for their next day up the hill.
“We’ve always focused on being a fun, vibrant spot to meet,” said Mr Moore. “This winter we’ve taken it one step further to really offer something for everyone, meaning groups, families, couples or people here on business can all enjoy the winter buzz and friendly atmosphere.”
The property boasts an unrivalled in-town location, just steps away from Queenstown’s bars, restaurants and shops, and has an absolute lakefront position. It features modern and stylish accommodation, with many rooms enjoying views over the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains.
