Sutton Group Announced as Naming Sponsors of the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Awards
As we move into a flurry of activity for the Brewer's Guild of New Zealand Awards, the Guild is happy to announce the return of the Sutton Group as naming-rights sponsor again in 2012.
“Sutton Group is proud to be closely associated with the brewing industry, so we see sponsoring the awards as a perfect fit. We are delighted to return as naming sponsors again in 2012”, says Brent Sutton, Managing Director of Sutton Group.
President of the Guild, Ralph Bungard (Three Boys Brewery) agrees; "A key mission of the Brewer’s Guild is celebrating the craft of brewing and our annual awards are central to that mission through the recognition of excellence. Pairing again with Sutton is a fantastic result for the Guild."
Taking place on Thursday August 16 in Wellington, the Awards are announced at a black tie dinner evening and will be presented by Te Radar. The Awards are the pinnacle of achievements in New Zealand brewing, and last year saw a record number of entries from across the country and overseas.
With the proliferation of exciting new breweries arriving on the scene, and a uniformly high quality of brewing from established figures, the Guild expects the Awards to challenge the judging panel to the fullest.
"There's no doubt that we're on the upswing currently", says Bungard. "There's an enthusiasm for quality beer and a thirst for knowledge that is promising for the industry as a whole".
Last year saw 8 Wired Brewing taking out the supreme award, Champion New Zealand Brewery. The Guild wishes the brewers of New Zealand the best of luck as they contest the biggest prize in New Zealand beer.
