Head of Philippine Economic Zone Authority to brief NZ technology business leaders
PEZA Director-General Dr Lilia de Lima will outline opportunities in the fast-growing Philippines technology sector at an open meeting for New Zealand ICT exporters this Friday.
June 26, 2012 – Relationships and trade between the Philippines and New Zealand has been strengthening and, according to NZ Trade & Enterprise, information and communications technology (ICT) is one of the key areas presenting opportunities for local exporters interested in expanding into the Philippines.
Technology Investment Network – publishers of the annual TIN100 Report on New Zealand’s top hi-tech exporters – is delighted to extend an invitation on behalf of the Embassy of the Philippines for ICT business leaders to attend a briefing with Dr Lilia de Lima, Director-General of PEZA, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, who will be visiting Auckland this Friday.
According to NZTE, locating in government or privately owned economic zones is often the best way to establish a foreign operation in the Philippines. PEZA offers ready-to-occupy locations for foreign exporters. Incentives are also available.
PEZA is attached to the Department of Trade and Industry and is the Philippine government agency tasked with promoting business opportunities in export-oriented manufacturing and service facilities inside selected areas throughout the country's PEZA Special Economic Zones. Dr de Lima has been the Director-General of PEZA since its creation in 1995.
At Friday's briefing, Dr de Lima will explain the opportunities available to New Zealand ICT exporters through PEZA. Her Excellency Virginia H. Benavidez, the Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand, will also attend the briefing.

When: 10.15am - 11.30am, Friday, 29 June 2012
