Local Rotorua security company wins half million dollar council contract
ROTORUA 25.06.12: Local Rotorua company Watchdog Security Group has been awarded two three-year contracts worth more than half a million dollars to provide a range of security services to Rotorua District Council (RDC) .
One contract covers alarm monitoring, noise complaints, council’s static security services, support for Animal Control officers, locking up venues and after hours security.
The other contract is for cash collection from council venues, banking, and mail and courier services between council facilities.
RDC Procurement & Sustainability manager Kerry Starling said there was considerable interest in both contracts from local, regional and national firms and the council was pleased to see a local firm come out on top when the tenders were assessed.
“Eight tenders were received for each contract with Watchdog Security submitting the lowest conforming price in both instances, for a combined cost of $565,528 over three years.”
Watchdog Security Group, which has recently secured a new building in Rotorua for its headquarters, will commence providing security services to Rotorua District Council on 1 July.
