BP TAKES PETROL PRICES UNDER $2 PER LITRE NATIONALLY
BP has lowered the price of 91 unleaded petrol to under $2 nationally for the first in nearly a year.
BP today led a further price drop of 3 cents per litre for petrol and 2 cents per litre for diesel – the second drop in
two days, and the sixth in under two months.
“This is the first time since August last year that petrol has been under $2 across the country,” said BP Managing
Director Matt Elliott.
“Prices have dropped 20 cents in the last month, which is an average saving of about $8 every time you fill up*.
“We know that fuel prices are often a large part of family budgets, and we’re really pleased to be able to pass on these
savings over the past couple of weeks.”
Mr Elliot said the continued decline in international product prices has allowed BP to drop its prices again.
“Previously, international product prices have remained stubbornly high, but we’ve seen some respite in the past couple
of months, caused by a number of factors including threats of falling demand due to the uncertain Greek situation.”
“Accordingly, we have moved to pass those savings on to motorists as soon as possible.
We know there are various political and economic factors impacting our prices at the moment, and the current flow on
effect is good news for our New Zealand customers,” Mr Elliott said.
Prices at most BP-owned service stations are:
91 Unleaded $ 199.9 cents per litre
95 Unleaded $ 207.9 cents per litre
Ultimate Diesel $ 143.9 cents per litre
This afternoon’s fall is BP’s sixth consecutive price drop since May.
