Amisfield Wine Company Appoints Chief Executive Officer
Specialist Central Otago wine producer Amisfield Wine Company has appointed Craig Erasmus to the role of Chief Executive Officer.
“After a long search I am delighted to announce the appointment of Craig who commences with our company next week. Craig was the perfect candidate to select to lead our tight knit team and our internationally recognised and high profile brand,” says Chairman David Hogg.
Born in South Africa, with great- great grandparents hailing from the Coromandel, it’s full circle as Craig and his family now call New Zealand home.
Craig has spent the past seven years working in Marlborough for Wither Hills, Vavasour and Foley Family Wines, filling roles ranging from Cellar Hand through to Chief Operating Officer.
Having originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Craig’s OE saw him spending six years in London in a variety of Corporate Development roles. It was during his travels abroad to wine regions in Europe, North & South America that his passion for wine and in particular cool-climate wine regions was kindled. After a three month odyssey around New Zealand in late 1999, the spectacular scenery, meeting fantastic kiwis and exciting opportunities in the burgeoning New Zealand wine sector convinced him that New Zealand was very much a place he wanted to call home.
After spending 2003 driving their trusted Landcruiser from New York to Northern Alaska and down to Patagonia, Craig and his wife completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University in 2004.
Craig has spent the last three years developing Vavasour Wines’ and subsequently Foley Family Wines’ business and brand portfolio in the domestic and overseas markets.
When not driving the tractor on the family vineyard, Craig spends his time with his wife and three young daughters exploring and fishing in the Marlborough Sounds.
The prospect of joining the talented Amisfield team and working with their esteemed brands has Craig and his family excited by their pending move to Central Otago.
