Partners Life appoints Chief Financial Officer

Partners Life announced today that Sean Kam has been appointed to the new role of Chief Financial Officer.

Mr Kam joins Partners Life from Heartland New Zealand where he was Chief Financial Officer. Previous roles include 10 years as Chief Operating Officer of leading investment bank ABN AMRO New Zealand.

The Managing Director of Partners Life, Naomi Ballantyne, said the appointment of Mr Kam followed an extensive search.

"Sean brings to our company a strong market reputation developed over 20 years in strategically focused finance positions in both listed companies, and financial institutions.

"His experience will be invaluable as Partners Life continues to manage exceptional growth in market share across its range of life risk and business protection products."

Mr Kam said he was drawn by Partners Life's philosophy of sharing value created with its customers and advisers.

“This is aligned with my personal values, and was an important reason for me wanting to join the organisation. I was also drawn to Partners Life by the outstanding insurance industry track record of the founders, and the depth of experience represented on the board.”

Partners Life is a New Zealand-owned life insurance company founded by Naomi Ballantyne, and Chris and Richard Coon in August 2010. The company earlier this year announced the appointment of highly respected banking industry authority Sam Knowles to a board which includes Boyd Klap, previous Chief Executive of Prudential and the Life Offices Association, and Joanna Perry, a former member of the Securities Commission and KPMG Partner.
