Franklin businesses urged to celebrate success

Celebrating business success is as important as filing your tax return according to the organisers of this year’s local business awards.

At an official awards launch in Pukekohe, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) urged Franklin companies to enter the 2012 Westpac Auckland South Business Awards and celebrate their contribution to Auckland’s economy.

More than 65 local business people attended last night’s event at Edinburgh Street bar, which is the first time that the awards have been launched in the Franklin area.

ATEED Manager Business Growth – South, Yvette Hellyer, says that sharing success stories is an important tool for the modern day business.

“Often businesses are so focused on the day-to-day requirements that they forget to pause and acknowledge their many achievements,” says Ms Hellyer. “Promoting what is unique and excellent about your company can boost its recognition in the community, increases sales, and inspire other businesses to strive for success. It can have many positive spin offs.”

“Franklin businesses play an important role locally and regionally. Entering the business awards is the perfect way to share your success story, as well as take a closer look at the inner workings of your business.”

As primary sponsor of the business awards, Westpac is right behind the 2012 programme.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for Auckland South businesses of all sizes and industries to recognise their own hard work and achievements,” says Ian Blair, General Manager of Business Banking for Westpac. “As a proud supporter of business around the country, both national and local, Westpac is thrilled to once again be associated with these prestigious awards and we look forward to acknowledging the winners.”

ATEED General Manager Business and Sector Development, Clyde Rogers says: “ATEED is delighted to deliver local awards in Auckland north, west and south as a dedicated tool for economic growth. By celebrating success, inspiring excellence, and helping to build individual businesses capability, we are supporting more sustainable businesses across the region. This can only have positive economic and social benefits for Auckland.”

Businesses of all sizes can enter up to three of seven categories, with all winners eligible for the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award.

Two extra awards, 2degrees Mobile Best Emerging Business and Small Business of the Year, will be selected from the overall entrant pool, where eligibility is met.

Awards entries close Thursday, 16 August.
The 2012 winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner on Friday, 16 November 2012
