New Zealand hotels banking on The Hobbit
The release of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit later this year will see increased tourism to New Zealand, a move welcomed by hotel owners and operators across the country.
Kimi Anderson, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Best Western Australasia, which has 17 hotels across the country, said, “Although our bookings and occupancy are steady, we need to re-invigorate global interest in visiting New Zealand. The Rugby World Cup was fantastic for business, but as an industry, we always need to be planning ahead”.
Bookings in April 2012 increased by 25% on last year, and forward bookings for the 2012 ski season are strong, with some hotels already booked out for July and August.
