Long Time Business Guide Retires
A long time executive member of Business Kapiti Horowhenua, Ron Parkin, has stepped down after a service of 12 years.
BKH is responsible for the annual Electra Kapiti Horowhenua Business awards and Ron Parkin held the Chair’s position for seven years to 2010. His speciality has been organising and participating in the assessment process. Current Chair of BKH, Tony Rush said at the AGM that “year by year, Mr Parkin added further rigour to the assessment process.”
As a past entrant, Ron Parkin has always been a strong advocate of the local business awards. He headed the Levin-based Genoese Foods which won categories and then the Electra Business of the Year Award in 2001.
Also stepping down from the BKH Executive is Daphne Luke, Kaiwhakahaere of the Kapiti Horowhenua Maori Business development agency, Te Arahanga O Nga Iwi.
The executive for the 2012-13 year is Horowhenua Councillor, Tony Rush (Chair); Diane Prow, Aura Information Security; Graham Smellie, Chair Nature Coast Enterprise; Ian Fenwick, Electra; Ingo Schleuss, Company Branding Shop; Mark Ternent, G5; and Ross Leggett, Electra.
