Conference to Open the Tool Box on Public Law
Chen Palmer New Zealand Public and Employment Law will host the Public Law Toolbox Conference at Parliament on 1 May 2012.
"The Conference is an opportunity for business, Maori, not for profits and Government to come together and share their practical advice on the tools that help them achieve successful outcomes and to work better with each other", said Mai Chen, founding partner of Chen Palmer and author of the Public Law Toolbox.
Ms Chen said, "The Conference aims to get key government and parliamentary decision-makers and complaints bodies to talk about how they perform their role - from the coalface. We have an amazing line up of 30 speakers representing business, Maori, not for profit and Government and Parliament. Further details on the Public Law Toolbox Conference programme, speakers and how you can order a copy of the Public Law Toolbox can be found at www.chenpalmer.com ".
Speakers at the Public Law Toolbox include Ministers and former Ministers, the current Speaker of the House, Chief Executives from government departments, Officers of Parliament, public complaints bodies, Chief Executives of businesses, Directors of Non-Government Organisations as well as the Leaders of Business New Zealand and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.
"Dealing with Government doesn't have to be like David versus Goliath. A common concern of clients seeking advice is the imbalance of power in dealing with the Government. The Conference will provide practical perspectives on how to create a level playing field so that everyone can successfully engage with Government," said Ms Chen.
The Public Law Toolbox Conference will be followed by the launch of Mai Chen's book, Public Law Toolbox.
Ms Chen said, "The Public Law Toolbox is a book setting out the ways to solve problems with Government, which draws upon my 25 years of experience teaching, writing and practising Public Law and advising businesses, iwi, community and advocacy groups and citizens on the Public Law tools they need to work more effectively with Government".
As part of Chen Palmer's commitment to open sourcing Public Law, a video recording of the entire conference will be made available on the Chen Palmer website as soon as possible after the Conference.
