Network issue affects payments
Payments NZ is aware of a network issue that has affected all banks.
The issue has meant that several payment transfers were not made overnight due to a network issue on the Swift payments gateway, the system used to transfer these files between banks. Payments NZ CEO Steve Nichols said that the fault was discovered very early this morning and is being worked on with a view to having everything fixed as soon as possible.
“Experts from all banks have been working throughout the night to clear the backlog of payments. Some payments have been processed already and we expect that everything will be back to normal soon.”
