Bank Website Performance by ISP

2012-03-28

TrueNet has taken a more focused approach in its latest publication of ISP broadband performance measures. We look more specifically at the download performances of New Zealand banks. All data refers to a 24-hour survey between the 26th and 27th March 2012.

With a comparison across a range of ISPs, we tested download times using the main pages of the major banks, and compared these with Trademe's front page at the time. Our findings then overlay the comparison of performance between the sites, with the performance across the ISPs.

Unfortunately, we were unable to test from the ASB because our technology currently does not enable downloads of secure pages, and ASB has a secure main page.

TrueNet test results show that the BNZ and National Bank websites enable very fast download times.

When we compare ISPs ability to download the front pages of each website, Vodafone and TelestraClear Cable were by far the quickest.

Most people have one ISP and one Bank, so we looked for a way to present this information so that readers can view the performance between their bank and their ISP. We hope this 3D method is helpful. It shows that some Bank-ISP combinations are particularly slow or quick compared with similar ISP downloads, eg Kiwibank-TelstraClear DSL is very slow and Kiwibank-TelstraClear Cable is very quick compared to other Kiwibank downloads.

The publication of this information is provided as an interest only report to showcase another of a range of test results that TrueNet is able to deliver.
