KFC Brings Back Double Down For Otago Rugby Union Creditors
The Double Down is back, and it’s helping raise money for Otago Rugby Union creditors.
That’s right, KFC is bringing the legendary Double Down to Dunedin this weekend only. The reason - to help raise funds for small creditors left out of pocket by the Otago Rugby Union.
Six thousand special BBQ Double Down burgers will be available across KFC’s three Dunedin stores this Saturday 31 and Sunday 1 April.
A total of $5 from every Double Down sold will go towards helping repay the 180-odd small creditors left out of pocket by the Union’s collapse.
KFC General Manager Brent Kitto said the company and its local Dunedin branches were keen to help raise money.
“KFC has been part of the Otago community for 35 years and we’re keen to ensure local businesses that have supported Otago Rugby over many years are not themselves put at risk. When times are tough a helping hand is often all that is required.”
“We’ve also employed many thousands of locals over the years. Our team are rugby fans just like the rest of New Zealand and want to ensure the future of Otago rugby is not impacted by this unfortunate situation.“
When it launched here last May, Kiwis embraced the Double Down like no other. Smashing sales records, the new burger quickly became KFC’s best selling new menu item ever.
The special, limited edition BBQ Double Down will feature two delicious fresh Original Recipe chicken breast fillets, two strips of bacon, two slices of cheese, all topped off with KFC’s special smoky BBQ sauce.
The BBQ Double Down will be available from opening this Saturday and Sunday only at KFC Dunedin North, Dunedin South and Roslyn stores. Only $9.90 and while stocks last.
