Real Journeys Appoints New CEO

Real Journeys is pleased to announce Richard Lauder as its new Chief Executive Officer.

“The appointment follows an extensive recruitment exercise and the Board is delighted to have appointed Richard to the position,” says Real Journeys Chairman, Bill Baylis.

Mr Lauder has twenty years’ experience as a chief executive, most recently with the Martin Aircraft Company in Christchurch which developed the Martin Jetpack. He remains a Director at Martin Aircraft Company and is also currently a Director of Corporate Fitness NZ and SICON Limited. “I feel privileged to become the new guardian of such an iconic New Zealand company. Real Journeys has some of the best known tourism operations in our part of the world and a proud history of service in the tourism sector. The company also has a strong commitment to conservation and sustainability in the communities where it operates, which is a real attraction for me,” says Mr Lauder.

Mr Lauder has an MBA from the University of Otago and tertiary qualifications in ethics and in engineering from the University of Canterbury.

Married, with two school-aged children, the Lauder family is relocating from Christchurch to Queenstown. Mr Lauder will commence his new role straight after Easter.
