Lake Wanaka success in Travelbug Awards

Lake Wanaka success in Travelbug Awards

Lake Wanaka has once again featured in travel awards, this time Trade Me’s annual Travelbug Awards where the resort town was the national winner as the region with the highest average review rating (98.9%) across its range of accommodation providers.

The Travelbug Awards recognise excellent performance by accommodation operators who are bookable with the site and the winners were selected based on the number of bookings made at each property, the quality of guest feedback, and the overall quality of their Travelbug listing.

Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager, James Helmore, said the awards highlighted the passion the operators have for sharing their region with visitors.

“These awards are traveller feedback-driven, judged by guests who have stayed in Lake Wanaka’s wide range of accommodation, from backpackers to luxury lodges,” he said. “Receiving the highest average visitor satisfaction rating in New Zealand is something our operators should be very proud of. This essentially means the thousands of satisfied visitors who have stayed in Wanaka will generate positive word of mouth recommendations to friends and family which is the most powerful form of marketing.”

In addition, Alpine Motel Apartments was voted ‘Best in Region’ by the Travelbug site’s users.

“We are very pleased and surprised at our selection and wish to thank the many referrers that have made the awards possible through the Travelbug website,” said Ken Mitchell. “Our property is an older motel and although we cannot offer 'new' or 'lake view' we pride ourselves on offering ‘Cleanliness, Comfort & Hospitality Assured’ in a central location.”
