New Christchurch Appointment Reflects Hirepool’s Commitment to the Region
12 March 2012 - Hirepool Limited has made a new senior appointment in Christchurch as it gears up for what it expects
will be a busy time ahead assisting with the earthquake re-build across the region.
Tony Lake has been appointed Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in Area Four which includes Canterbury as well as
Marlborough, Nelson and the West Coast. He joins two other Hirepool BRM’s in the region.
A Kaiapoi resident, who experienced first-hand the horrors of the large September 2010 and February 2011 quakes and the
more than 9,500 subsequent aftershocks, Tony says he is looking forward to “establishing a rewarding management career
and at the same time being involved in the recovery and re-build of my home town.”
He joins Hirepool with considerable business relationship and sales experience gained previously at Michael Hill
International and Tradestaff. He had earlier spent two years as a Police Constable in Christchurch and North Canterbury.
Hirepool has five business units in Christchurch comprising Port-A-Loo, Rhodes Rentals and three general hire branches
in Christchurch at Hornby, Riccarton and in the CBD at Moorhouse Ave, which it only gained access to again just before
Christmas - 10 months after the big 6.3 quake last February. Before the earth started to move Hirepool had 27 full time
and four part-time staff across in Christchurch and that has now grown to 36 full time and nine part time.
According to Hirepool Area Four manager, Ross Dale, the business has started to scale up to meet the increased demand
from the construction and commercial sector as well as DIY customers. “Tony has the skill set we require as we look to
strengthen our sales force,” he says. I am confident he will play a key leadership role in the growth of our business.”
