POAL response to latest MUNZ strike notice

Media Release
POAL response to latest MUNZ strike notice

POAL’s focus is on running the Port and on implementing yesterday’s decision to get the Port up to the full productivity we need as soon as possible. MUNZ should now be focussed on the future of its members and be engaging constructively around the redundancy implementation process and allowing members to make decisions about their futures. MUNZ further 14 day strike notice today was expected.

We will continue to operate the container terminal at higher productivity levels than achieved in the past. We attribute this immediate gain to the commitment of our non-union employees. We are grateful for our continuing customer support to keep goods flowing in and out of Auckland, this week we will have exchanged 2200 containers.” ENDS
Please attribute to Ports of Auckland Chairman, Richard Pearson.
