BP Oil NZ Welcomes New MD Matt Elliot
BP Oil is pleased to announce the appointment of its new managing director for New Zealand, Matt Eliot.
New Zealander Mr Elliot will be returning home this month after 11 years to lead the BP New Zealand business as managing director. He joined BP in 1994 and has since had extensive experience in sales, marketing and operational roles across New Zealand, the UK, the United States, Fiji and Australia.
In announcing the appointment, President of BP Australasia Paul Waterman said: “Matt brings broad business experience and significant leadership of large teams and businesses to this key operational role in New Zealand.
“I’m very confident that his demonstrated ability to energise and motivate teams, as well as his track record in successfully running businesses, will make him a great asset to the New Zealand business and team.”
“Matt is a great example of BP’s deliberate practice to develop our senior leaders through combining overseas experience with time in local markets, and I believe it gives us significant competitive advantage to able to do so.”
Mr Elliot’s most recent role has been Head of Rural and Regional in Australia – an organisation of 2,700 people, 200 retail sites and 70 depots and terminals. Prior to this role, he successfully led BP South West Pacific, managing the divestment of the business across eight countries.
Mr Elliot will officially take over the position on 1 May. He replaces current Managing Director Mike McGuinness, who is moving to a position with BP Australia.
