2012 FITEC National Training Awards
Media Release 1 March 2012
The search is on for the forest, furniture and wood industry's top performers in the 2012 FITEC National Training Awards
Now is the time to nominate the best trainees and companies in the forest, furniture and wood manufacturing industry for the annual FITEC National Training Awards.
The Awards are a major annual event for the industry - where people and businesses are recognised for their commitment to learning and the achievement of professional qualifications.
Nominations are now open and forest, furniture and wood manufacturing companies have until 31 May to put forward their most outstanding candidates for awards including Modern Apprentice of the Year, Trainee of the Year and Training Company of the Year.
There is also a general industry award for Outstanding Business Performance through People Development, an award recognising the best Training Leader of the Year and a Health and Safety award.
"The National Training Awards are an opportunity for companies and individuals around the country to nominate their stars and enhance their profile" says FITEC Chief Executive, Ian Boyd. "Past winners have become role models and gone on to do great things for themselves and the industry.
"The forest and wood industry is New Zealand's third largest exporter and plays a significant economic and social role throughout all regions in New Zealand. Skill development plays a critical role in the continuing success of the industry and as such these National Awards have become an increasingly important industry event."
A special ceremony and gala dinner for award finalists and their guests will be held on 20 September in Rotorua, where the winners will be announced.
Over 430 industry people and guests attended the 2011 FITEC National Training Awards where 11 award winners were announced in the presence of the Minister of Tertiary Education and senior business leaders.
