Accident at Linton Camp
The New Zealand Defence Force is reporting an accident at the shooting range at Linton Military Camp, in the Manawatu.
The NZ Defence Force says a member of a group undertaking pre-deployment training appears to have discharged his weapon, injuring himself in the leg.
An ambulance attended the scene and the injured person has been taken to Palmerston Hospital.
At this time the extent of the injury to the person is not known, although it is believed the injury is not life threatening.
The NZ Defence Force says an investigation will be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
