BIOFUEL INDUSTRY CRITICAL TO NEW ZEALAND'S ENERGY FUTURE, PURE ADVANTAGE SAYS
“We spend about the same on fuel imports as we generate from our meat exports, so all the hard work done by our farmers doesn’t even pay the gas bill. That makes no sense at all.”
- Geoff Ross, Pure Advantage Trustee
The charitable trust campaigning for a green economy, Pure Advantage, are endorsing the Government’s support of the biofuels industry, saying New Zealand’s potential to lead in the industry cannot be underestimated with the abundance of readily available resources.
Pure Advantage believes the time to revive the country’s economic and environmental performance is now and on-going support for New Zealand’s biofuel industry is critical to that. This view is in line with several other organisations that have also called on the government to renew its biofuel subsidy scheme, including the Bioenergy Association of New Zealand (BANZ), Ecodiesel and Gull Petroleum, as well as companies who have already begun to research and produce biofuels.
