Weekend Gardener joins Mainland Press
Weekend Gardener joins Mainland Press
Mainland Press'
lifestyle division has been boosted even further with the
acquisition of popular magazine Weekend Gardener.
This well-established national, fortnightly publication is a DIY magazine aimed at passionate gardeners and green-fingered beginners. It boasts comprehensive columns and features that follow the seasons with step-by-step, easy-to-follow, practical advice, and inspirational hints and tips for flower and vegetable gardens.
Mainland Press managing director Pier Smulders says, "We are delighted we have added Weekend Gardener to our family of publications and are committed to continuing to bring our dedicated and loyal readers a great read every fortnight packed full of helpful information. It's a fantastic magazine with lots of potential and we will make sure it keeps getting better and better".
Mainland Press general manager sales Peter Hampton says, "Adding Weekend Gardener to the advertising solutions that Mainland Press already offers our clients enables us to develop even better targeted campaigns. Gardening is one of the most-popular pastimes in New Zealand and Weekend Gardener is an ideal vehicle to reach these readers throughout the country."
Under Mainland Press ownership, the aim is to build the already outstanding readership base. The latest Nielsen statistics, to December 2011, shows the Weekend Gardener's readership sits at 139,000 - 7,000 more than the July-September 2011 survey.
Mainland Press, a Christchurch based family-owned publishing house, produces the Mainland Press, Bay Harbour News, Norwest News, Pegasus Bay News, Southern View and Selwyn View newspapers, Best Motorbuys, Buy Sell & Exchange, CC Magazine and respective websites. The company has recently taken over the ownership of popular national lifestyle publication Older & Bolder. After the February 22 earthquake last year, CTV moved into the Mainland Press building and the two companies are working together in Christchurch as part of the city's recovery efforts.
The depth and regular frequency of Weekend Gardener makes the publication a valuable companion for gardeners of all ages and levels of expertise. The magazine has high retention as reference guide for useful ideas and advice.
