Mai TV Launches New Food Show
Friday 24 February 2012
Mai
TV and Ministry of Health have teamed up to launch a new
food
show called Mai Kana featuring designer, cyclist and
cook Dom Sansom.
On the back of a successful 55
issue run in MaiLIFE Magazine, Mai TV
decided last year
to begin its own food show using local ingredients
to
assist the Ministry of Health in Fiji’s battle
against Non Communicable
Diseases (NCD’s)
“We are
delighted MOH came into to support this. Other sponsors
have
lined up with be part of this series because of the
values it represents”,
said Mai TV General Manager
David Hotchin.
The first episode of Mai Kana launches at
7.30pm this Sunday and
features Mai TV’s Manoa
Rasigatale with Dom using Breadfruit, Chicken,
fresh
fruit and vegetables to make a great healthy family dish
with
pineapple, tea, rice and sugar.
“It sounds weird
now, but wait till you see how we’ve combined all
these
elements to get an awesome flavour that everyone in
the family should
love”, added Sansom.
Without
sponsors this series would not have been possible. In
support of
Mai Kana include MOH, MH, Yoplait yoghurt,
Crest Chicken, Joe’s Farm,
Orchid brand of paper
towels, Protex Handwash, Fiji Gas and Punja’s.
Mai Kana
will eventually team up with Manoa We Ni Yava as two
great
local shows on Mai TV on Sunday nights.
“We are
obviously happy to be presenting Fiji with its own cooking
show.
With food shows dominating international TV
screens, it was the right time
to do our own”, Hotchin
said.
Mai TV is encouraging people with interesting recipes to email them to dom@samba.com.fj to get a chance to feature on Mai Kana.
