Eight-day global charitable giving campaign launches today
Campaign aims to make giving ‘go viral’ and benefit local and global charities
February 22, 2012 - CureKids, the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and Auckland Kiwi Can Trust are just a few of the hundreds of charities set to benefit from Everyone Gives, a global giving campaign which launches today.
Everyone Gives runs for eight days in more than 60 countries around the world, aiming to multiply small donations through the power of personal networks.
Participants make a small donation – such as $5 – to a charity of their choice through the Everyone Gives website at www.everyonegives.org. They then use their social networks to invite friends, colleagues, clients and family to give – and encourage those people to spread the word in turn, thereby multiplying small donations over the eight-day campaign.
Participants can also add charities they are passionate about to the campaign, and track their contacts’ donations on the website.
“It’s exciting because it’s never been done before,” says Mark Synnott, New Zealand CEO of Colliers International, one of the world’s largest commercial real estate firms and founding sponsor of Everyone Gives.
“Rather than a one-off charitable donation, this is about enabling individuals to engage their personal connections to give more to the charities they are passionate about, and watch as the power of one small donation multiplies.”
Colliers International New Zealand has registered three charities for this global fund raising campaign: CureKids, which invests in medical research into life-threatening childhood diseases and conditions affecting New Zealand children; WSPA, which aims to tackle animal cruelty across the globe; and Auckland Kiwi Can Trust, which uses a positive and purposeful approach to combat bullying, truancy and under-achievement among young people.
These organisations join over 600 charities globally including Room to Read, United Way, World Vision, Charity: Water and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 100% of each donation will go directly to the charity a participant selects.
