Solid Energy Spring Creek Mine prohibition notice - update
The Department of Labour and Solid Energy senior managers this morning met by teleconference to discuss the Department’s prohibition notice on underground work at the Spring Creek mine.
Acting Chief Inspector Mines, Gavin Taylor says Solid Energy has agreed to provide a full explanation of the incidents leading to the prohibition notice and a plan and definite timeline for addressing those safety failures.
“The company was open and responsive to the concerns that led us to issue the prohibition notice.
“We’ve told Solid Energy that providing this information meets our requirements, we will lift the prohibition notice.
“The Department does not expect to be able to make a decision on lifting the prohibition notice until sometime tomorrow as it will take at least the rest of today for Solid Energy to develop appropriate information for us to consider,” Mr Taylor says.
