Interim CE appointed to Employers' Chamber

Wellington businessman, John Wills, has been appointed as interim chief executive of the Employers' Chamber of Commerce Central (ECCC) as of today.

“John brings a considerable range of skills and experience to the position. Most recently he managed and coordinated the response by Business New Zealand and its major company members to the Canterbury earthquakes. However, he also has extensive experience as the CE of a membership organisation providing services to those members. He grew this organisation, InfraTrain New Zealand, in a spectacular and profitable manner,” said ECCC president, John Johnston.

John Wills has been appointed on a three month extendable contract while the ECCC undertakes a search for a permanent new CE.

John Wills’ career began in the New Zealand Police where he specialised in strategic responses to crime, including secondments to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Ministry of Justice.

John Wills also has a parallel career in voluntary work, where he has worked at senior levels in the Order of St John. Currently he is on the Greater Wellington District Committee, and was, until recently, its chair. He is also the Registrar for the Order of St John in New Zealand.

John Johnston said he is keen to see John Wills take up the reins and oversee the development of ECCC’s stakeholder and advocacy programmes while also reviewing and developing the range of business services offered by the Employers Chamber. These include Learning and Development, Employment Law, Staff Training, Occupational Health and Safety advice and services along with Employment Consultancy.
