Hamilton Community Groups Offered Chance to Get More Dough

Hamilton Community Groups Offered the Chance to Get More Dough

Two Domino’s Pizza stores in Hamilton are on a mission – to donate $10,000 to the community in 2012.

Domino’s Pizza stores in Rototuna and Hillcrest, owned by franchisees Anton Pires and Arran Clement, are planning to hold Doughraisers every week throughout next year. Groups will be able to book in a night, where $1 from every pizza sold goes directly to their school, sports team, community organisation or charity.

The two stores have run several Doughraisers in the past, donating money to charities such as the Waikato Family Centre and The Cancer Society, sports groups like Waikato Hockey, and several schools. It also supports local schools with discount deals and gives away pizza vouchers through radio stations.

Mr Pires says the idea of the weekly Doughraisers is to give back to the groups, individuals and organisations that have supported both stores over the last few years.

“The community supports us in a tremendous way, so it’s only right that we support them in return. We get such a kick out of helping groups both big and small and seeing how just one night of selling pizza can go such a long way to providing vital funds for whatever it is they want to do – whether it’s money for kids to go away on school camp or helping someone head overseas to do aid work,” he says.

Mr Pires says any group or charity wanting to hold a Doughraiser on a Monday night should pop into Domino’s Pizza in Hillcrest or Rototuna to check availability and book in.

The 2012 calendar is expected to fill up fast, so groups wanting to take part will need to get in quickly.

Domino’s Pizza Hillcrest is located at Cambridge Shopping Centre, Cambridge Road, Hillcrest, while Domino’s Pizza Rototuna is at the St James Shopping Centre, Rototuna.
