Mitre 10 Buys Hawera Store

Mitre 10 Buys Hawera Store

Mitre 10 has bought the former Taranaki Farmers Mitre 10 store in Hawera and will rebrand and continue to operate the South Taranaki hardware outlet.

Mitre 10 recently signed an agreement to take ownership of the Hawera operation from Taranaki Farmers and the store will be reformatted and repainted in its new colours in the New Year.

“The Mitre 10 orange and black branding will go on in the New Year and we’re already restocking and re-staffing the store,” says Mitre 10 General Manager Marketing, Dave Elliott. “This is a great opportunity for us to continue to grow our presence in heartland New Zealand and provide the service and range of products that have made Mitre 10 the most trusted hardware brand in New Zealand.”

Mr Elliott said the Hawera store needed up to half a dozen more staff and the company was currently looking for people to fill those positions. The store current employs 23 full and part-time staff.

“As a New Zealand owned and operated co-operative we encourage our stores to play an active role in their local communities with support for local events and fund raising activities on an almost weekly basis.

“Mitre 10 is New Zealand’s largest hardware chain by revenue, sales and number of stores and we’re also the largest gardening supply chain in the country. With around 100 stores we have the buying power to ensure our local customers get the benefit of highly competitive prices.

“We’ll be making sure we remain part of the DNA of Taranaki’s DIYers.”
